What Ancient Egypt Knewโ€”And We're Just Beginning to Remember

Not just because of the pyramids or templesโ€”but because of the profound wisdom I found buried in the silence, the symbols, and the stories.

Back in the Netherlands now, Iโ€™m carrying a beautiful sense of reconnectionโ€”with roots Iโ€™d long felt disconnected from.

Ancient Egypt is 5,000 years old, but its truths?

In a world thatโ€™s rushing forward while it's very foundation is crumbling, ๐˜๐—ต๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ฒ ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐Ÿฑ ๐—น๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜€๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€ ๐—œ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ธ ๐˜๐—ต๐—ถ๐˜€ ๐—บ๐—ผ๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ป ๐˜„๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—น๐—ฑ ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—น๐—ฑ ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—น๐—น๐˜† ๐˜‚๐˜€๐—ฒ:

๐Ÿ”„ 1. Life as a Cycle, Not Linear They saw life, death, and rebirth as one continuous cycle. Death wasn't an endโ€”it was a transition. That view brought less fear and more reverence for all stages of life.

Modern takeaway: Embrace change. Endings often carry the seed of new beginningsโ€”personally, emotionally, even professionally. We canโ€™t keep moving forward at full speed for eternity; sometimes we need a symbolic โ€œdeathโ€ in order to be reborn. The sooner we accept this, the less suffering we will face.

๐ŸŒŸ 2. The Principle of Maโ€™at (Balance and Truth) Maโ€™at wasnโ€™t just a goddessโ€”it was a way of life: balance, truth, justice, harmony. The idea was that your actions helped maintain cosmic order and our inner world reflects outwardly.

Modern takeaway: How we treat others, the planet, and ourselves impacts the bigger picture. Live with integrity and conscious awarenessโ€”your inner balance reflects outward. Have you experienced inner turmoil, then saw this turmoil/ chaos reflected in your external world? Our inner world is a mirror. Work on the inside, and you'll see that reflected in your outer reality.

๐Ÿง  3. Holistic Medicine Egyptians practiced healing on all levelsโ€”physical, emotional, and spiritual. From herbal remedies to energy work, their approach was deeply integrated and not separate. They also looked at treating root causes, not symptoms as we do today.

Modern takeaway: Well-being isnโ€™t just about the body. Nurture your mind and spirit too. True healing happens when we treat the whole person.

๐Ÿ”ฎ 4. Rituals and Sacred Space Rituals werenโ€™t reserved for holidaysโ€”they were woven into everyday life. Sacred space was created through intention, offerings, and connection to the divine. In modern life, we seems to have lost this connection with something greater than ourselves.

Modern takeaway: Build simple rituals into your routine and make them a non negotiable. Morning stillness, lighting incense, or a daily gratitude practice. Ground yourself regularlyโ€”it doesnโ€™t need to be fancy or complicated to be transformative.

โค๏ธ 5. The Heart Holds Truth To Egyptians, the heart was the seat of wisdom, memory, and morality. Upon death, the heart was the only organ to be buried with the corpses (whilst the other organs, including the brain were removed or sucked out with a straw! Yikes).

Modern takeaway: Build a connected with your heart and trust it. It carries your deepest values and inner compass. When the world feels chaotic, your heart knows what truly matters.

In order to cultivate a deeper connection with my heart's inner wisdom, a daily meditation practice has become a non-negotiable for me.
