Choosing the Right Course: A Conscious Guide to Further Study
Investing in the right course or further study can be as life-altering as a psychedelic experience. Yes, really.
It can shift your mindset, expand your worldview, open new doors, and completely reroute the trajectory of your career.
But how do you discern a transformative course from a mediocre one? How do you know if it's a truly aligned investment, or just a shiny distraction?
It’s not always clear-cut — which is why I’ve created this conscious guide to help you make an intentional, informed decision.
❌ Don’t Start With Budget
Let’s get this out of the way first: you can’t put a price on transformation.
If a course can help you land your dream job, change industries, or spark a new lifelong passion, then the ROI stretches far beyond the upfront cost.
Budget matters, yes — but it should come last, not first.
✅ Compare the Market
It’s easy to get excited about the first course that feels aligned. But pause. Breathe. Research.
Ask questions like:
How is the course structured?
Is there live teaching or just pre-recorded content?
Who are the facilitators, and what’s their experience?
What support and community do you get?
A course can have the right content, but if the delivery doesn’t suit your learning style, it can miss the mark.
✅ Speak to People
Don't be shy — talk to past graduates if possible. Most people are happy to share their experience. Ask:
What were the highlights?
Were there any gaps or disappointments?
What are they doing now?
Also speak to course creators or teachers — not just sales staff. You’re making an investment — it’s okay to do your due diligence.
✅ Know Yourself (and Your Learning Style)
Are you someone who thrives in live sessions, or do you prefer the flexibility of recorded content? Do you need accountability, community, or 1:1 feedback?
For example, I know that I won’t watch recorded videos unless there's live interaction. I prefer in-person if possible, or at least live online calls.
Knowing yourself can help you choose a course that fits your lifestyle and habits — not just your aspirations.
✅ Get Clear on Your North Star
Before you dive into the course search, take a moment to reflect: Where are you heading? What’s your long-term vision — your North Star?
Make sure the course genuinely supports that path, not just a passing curiosity. Also, be mindful of international differences — especially if your field involves licensing, accreditation, or regulation. What works in one country may not translate directly to another.
✅ Tune In With Yourself
Beyond logic and research — how does it feel?
If the course feels like a hell yes... that’s your sign. It should feel expansive, exciting, and like an opportunity you're genuinely drawn to.
Your intuition is a powerful guide. Trust it.
❌ Don’t Let Fear Hold You Back
Sometimes, the real obstacle isn’t cost or logistics — it’s fear.
Fear that you’re not ready. Fear of failure. Fear that you’re not capable.
But here’s the thing: you found this guide for a reason. Somewhere inside you know you’re meant for more.
Let love lead you, not fear.
Because learning something you love? It energises you. It motivates you. And it reminds you of what you're really capable of.
Final Words
There’s no perfect formula. And no such thing as a “perfect” course. But as long as you’re growing in the direction of your North Star, you’re on the right path.
Sometimes you’ll make amazing investments. Other times, they’ll just be lessons. Both are valuable. Both move you forward.
